Services and Specialties
Samuelson Children's Hospital offers a full range of pediatric specialty services for patients from birth to 18 years of age and older, supporting local pediatricians with the most comprehensive care of any community hospital in Maryland.
Our pediatric specialties include cardiology, critical care medicine, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, gastroenterology, endocrinology, hematology/oncology, orthopedics, neurology and infectious diseases.

Our reputation for excellence is based on the stellar medical care and compassion we bring to our patients. Our physicians, nurses and social workers take time to listen to your requests, answer your questions and direct you to the appropriate support services. Our dedicated physician group includes board-certified physicians, neonatologists and a hospitalist who all provide round-the-clock coverage.

We get to know our patients by name, understanding each one’s fears and anxieties as well as what makes them laugh and smile.

As a hospital within a hospital, we offer patients immediate access to a range of hospital services. Our team includes physicians, nurses, anesthesiologists, social workers, child-life specialists, nutritionists, respiratory therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and a pediatric pharmacist. All providers work together with mutual trust and respect to achieve the best possible outcome for each patient.
We maintain constant communication with your child’s primary pediatrician to keep them updated on progress. Our staff will also assist with education, home care, appointments, transportation assistance and insurance. Whatever your concern, we are here to help.

Our Kid-Friendly Facility
Samuelson Children’s Hospital recently underwent a major renovation to improve the care setting for children and their families and make it more bright and cheerful. The interior design of the hospital is now a marine motif. At certain times each day, the televisions in the lobby and each room display a live broadcast from the National Aquarium in Baltimore.

All single-bed rooms for inpatients with windows and lots of natural light
Occupational and physical therapy treatment available onsite
Expansion of remote anesthesia so that children can be anesthetized in the company of their parents
Relocation and expansion of the Hematology/Oncology unit and infusion area to serve more patients
Expanded playroom spaces for patients
A comfortable waiting room for parents and relatives, and a family hospitality area with a microwave, sink and refrigerator
A learning/resource room with computers and wireless Internet access
100-percent HEPA-filtered patient and clinical support areas
